In Madagascar, Mozambique and Mauritius, Pope Francis will confront poverty that “surpasses reason,” corruption, jihadism, political and social instability, financial scandal, civil war and harsh weather that scientists believe will become steadily more extreme.
Pope Francis arrives in Mozambique on Wednesday, and Catholic Relief Services officials say he will bring hope to a country ravaged by war and natural disasters.
Pope Francis’s sixth foreign trip of 2019 will take him to Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius Sept. 4-10, the Vatican announced.
