An Iraqi-born bishop and longtime advocate of Iraq’s Christian minority has been appointed head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Canada. Bishop Bawai Soro was consecrated a bishop in the Assyrian Church of the East in 1984, and was received into communion with the Catholic Church in 2008, along with nearly 1,000 families of his Church.
