Virginia’s two Catholic bishops, Arlington Bishop Michael F. Burbidge and Richmond Bishop Barry C. Knestout, released lists Feb. 13 of the clergy credibly accused of child sex abuse in their respective dioceses.
In his pastoral letter, “From Tragedy to Hope,” Bishop Barry C. Knestout said he would make public the names of clergy “credibly accused” of abuse because victims “need to see that someone is being held to account for the damage they have done in order for the victims to move forward.”
Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Barry Knestout to lead the diocese of Richmond, Virginia. Knestout is currently an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Washington.
