  • UK, Argentine military bishops exchange icons as part of Falklands War reconciliation

    With Pope Francis as a witness, an image of Our Lady of Lujan that had accompanied soldiers as they fought a war against the United Kingdom over the Falkland Islands in 1982 was returned to its rightful owners today by England’s military bishop. In return, he received a copy of the image.

    After 37 years, the statue of Our Lady of Luján used in the chapel for the Argentinian forces on the Falkland Islands will be going home in an act of reconciliation that will be personally blessed by Pope Francis.
