Syrian doctors warn country’s crisis worsening, especially for young

An estimated 70 percent of Syria’s medical staff has either been killed in the past seven years, or has fled the country afraid of being killed. Hospitals, a key target during conflict, have been improvised underground, and locals have added sandbags and concrete helplessly trying to minimize the damage of each shelling. Some of those physicians who remain were recently in Rome, trying to issue a plea for help and also to warn that Syria’s crisis will soon be Europe and the West’s headache.
