My in-laws, who are observant Catholics, say Grace before dinner. I am an atheist. My custom when I visit their house is to participate and give thanks, but to drop out quietly on the word “God” — that is, to say, “Thank you _____ for this food and the people with whom we share it.”
Is this ethical?
