A couple of years ago, I dinged my neighbor’s car. The damage was minimal, and the car was very old with other scratches. I told the neighbor right away, but fearful of insurance surcharges, also asked my neighbor to let me know the cost of repairing it, so I could reimburse directly, rather than bring my insurance company into the matter.

This took a few months, and the estimate I finally saw was a) from a dealer, so presumably on the pricey side, and b) seemed to include some damage I didn’t cause. I didn’t say anything because it was so awkward and I was just anxious to put the matter to rest. I paid them. Now it’s two years later, and they’ve never fixed the car.

Did they do anything wrong?

Sincerely,
Still Seething
