I just received what can only be called a chain letter from a person I love. The promise is innocuous: Send a poem or an inspirational verse to the person at the top of the list and you will receive many poems and inspirational verses in return. No one is promising any money, and no one is threatening any divine punishment if I don’t participate.
Still. I feel really funny sending this request to 20 “friends” and asking them to e-mail a stranger. Is a chain letter of this kind ethical?
