Since 1986, the Ministry of the Arts (MOTA) has been committed to creating beauty and inspiration through original art and music. This sponsored ministry of the Congregation of St. Joseph emerged from a belief and conviction that the arts play a critical role in forming, informing and transforming consciousness.

In addition, the arts also influence and shape a culture. MOTA’s mission statement gives expression to this core belief: Through the arts we are drawn into a deeper awareness of our relationship with God, one another and all creation. We believe the arts to be a source of hope, healing and unity for our world.

At this time in the history of our country and world, we are experiencing great upheaval particularly manifested in violence, division/separation and climate degradation. Many are searching for resources that engender hope and healing and foster a worldview of harmony, unity and peace.

MOTA promotes God’s dream of oneness for all peoples and places; all nations, all creatures big and small…in essence we are ONE Sacred Community! This belief is rooted in the mission of the Congregation of St. Joseph who sponsor MOTA:

Our mission flows from the purpose for which the Congregation exists: We live and work that all may be united with God and with one another. “That all may be one as You, O God are in Me, and I in You; I pray that they may be one in Us.”

In addition, MOTA advocates a fundamental understanding that, through the arts, we are drawn into a deeper awareness of our relationship with God, one another and all creation. Through the arts we contemplate and express the unity and holiness of all creation, and the heights and depths of the human heart in response to the great mysteries of existence.
