Thousands sang and applauded as Italian teen Carlo Acutis was beatified in a town dear to him and to many Christians around the world: Assisi.
Carlo Acutis is known for his mastery of computer technology, spending his spare time designing an online exhibition about Eucharistic miracles around the world that’s still making the rounds. He’s being presented as a role model for youth, a “saint of the ordinary,” and also a possible patron saint for IT workers.
“Right now we’re experiencing a fraternity of pain all over the word,” Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino of Assisi said, “a pain that strikes even the most powerful people in the world. We’ve felt our fragility, that we are all fragile.”
