Pope Francis has appointed Father Louis Tylka, a pastor in the Archdiocese of Chicago, to be the coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Peoria, Illinois.
Bishop Daniel R. Jenky of Peoria took to the skies via a helicopter on Good Friday, April 10, to offer a blessing to the entire Diocese of Peoria as well as to pray for all affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Supporters of the canonization cause for Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen have been invited to take part in a novena starting Dec. 12 to “petition God unceasingly to remove all obstacles” for the beatification of the media pioneer, author and evangelist.
A news release from the Diocese of Peoria said it was informed Dec. 2 that the Vatican had decided to postpone the Dec. 21 beatification ceremony for Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Details on what prompted the bishops to intervene were unknown.

Acknowledging evidence that “for several generations” the Catholic Church has not sufficiently taught its core truths, Bishop Daniel R. Jenky has called for all ministries of the Diocese of Peoria to be “intentionally centered” on the Real Presence in the holy Eucharist.
