The creation of a new master’s of fine arts degree program in creative writing at the University of St. Thomas in Houston marks a breakthrough in a resurgence of Catholic literary arts, said its founders.
Many Catholics rely on passion plays or films to aid in their reflection on Christ’s passion and death.
“We’re under a lot of pressure in the contemporary world, we Christians and Catholics, and it’s critical to find the right position for our backbone,” said the founder of a new institute devoted to John Paul II and Culture. “John Paul II shows us how to be in such a position.”
