But he warns that given his advanced age, if something seems unlikely or odd, “it would be prudent first to verify and then to forgive.”

According to Brazilian Cardinal Cláudio Hummes, the core of Pope Francis’s ecclesiastical reform is to build “a totally missionary Church,” and as part of that picture, Hummes says Francis wants a Church determined to “move and leave” preferentially towards the peripheries.
The Council of Cardinals met for the 17th time this week, focusing on synodality and the Church’s “missionary drive.” There was no talk about the “dubia” regarding “Amoris Laetitia,” Vatican spokesman said and added that “it is not the purpose” of the Council.
