Pope Francis proposes 'popularism' to counter populism

Europeans must not see their rich history simply as a fond memory of a time long gone, but they must look to it as a guide to overcoming divisions and challenges aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Pope Francis said.
The European Christian Political Movement was founded in 2005. The aim of the network is to promote the shared Christian values within the EU and to unite Christians in Europe.
History’s first pope from outside the West traveled to the heart of secular Europe Tuesday and delivered a sharp wake-up call, warning European leaders that the continent risks irrelevance if it doesn’t recover its founding values, drawing in part on its Christian legacy.
