Pope Francis Sunday closed a marathon of activities and messages over the weekend with a livestreamed Mass on the feast of Pentecost, insisting that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God that unites, and for whom distinctions such as “conservative” or “progressive” have no meaning.
Noting that the world today is one of contradictions and stark divisions, where there are “those who want to live to a hundred and those who cannot even be born,” Pope Francis on Sunday said that the Holy Spirit brings “harmony” because he’s a specialist in changing chaos into cosmos.
The Holy Spirit keeps Christians young at heart, supporting them in times of trial and helping them praise God no matter what is going on, Pope Francis said.
The Holy Spirit gives Christians the courage and the strength needed to engage in a loving dialogue with God that is like the dialogue of a child with his or her father, Pope Francis said.
Christians must allow themselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit if they expect to live a Christian life, Pope Francis said.
