Several thousand conservative activists of all ages marched through Paris on Sunday to protest a French bill that would give lesbian couples and single women access to in vitro fertilization and related procedures.
According to one expert, while in vitro fertilization (IVF) has boomed in popularity since the first child born through the procedure in 1978, there is a lack of scientific research on infertility itself, meaning artificial fertilization procedures could be overused.
Jennifer Lahl is the president of the Center for Bioethics and Culture, and spoke to Crux about her new film ‘#BigFertility’.
“We listen to [the voice of the Church] with interest, with respect, and we can even make our own many of its points. But this voice of the Church, we both know deep down cannot be ordering,” the French President Emmanuel Macron told bishops on Monday.
