Holy Week got off to a bumpy start this year in one part of India when Father Thomas Rajamanikam of St. Joseph’s Church in Indore rode a donkey in the annual Palm Sunday procession.
A Catholic hospital in India was attacked by a mob on March 12, leading to the destruction of the institution’s water and power supply. Several nurses were also injured in the attack.
Hindu nationalists held a rally outside a Catholic school in the northern Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Jan. 15, after the school suspended around 20 students for “disrespecting” a patriotic slogan on Thursday.
Clashes took place outside of a Catholic college in India, after members of a Hindu-nationalist student association tried to force the school to allow them to perform a Hindu religious ritual at the facility.
