As the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic continues to hit Africa hard, a leading human rights group is warning that the persecution of Christians is getting worse during the crisis.
Global religious persecution watchdog Open Doors USA is calling on the United States government to fight the persecution and mistreatment of Christians and other religious minorities in countries like China, India, and North Korea.
Despite these efforts at peacebuilding, “nothing will come from it” unless more freedom is given to the North’s oppressed Christian community, according to Open Doors, a leading Christian human rights organization.
There are more than 215 million persecuted Christians worldwide according to the 2018 World Watch List, Open Doors USA’s annual ranking of the 50 worst countries for violence and persecution against Christians.
