Iraqis hope papal visit can help unify country's diverse communities

The Philippine government issued new orders restricting movement in an effort to control a spike in COVID-19, resulting in 10 dioceses suspending public Masses.
The health officer for Montgomery County, Maryland, which is part of the Archdiocese of Washington, issued a directive July 31 that private, parochial and schools affiliated with religious institutions in the county must remain closed to in-person instruction though at least Oct. 1, 2020.
In the United Kingdom, the city of Leicester will be allowed to celebrate public Masses beginning on Aug. 3.
While there is not enough information to declare it a trend, there are signs that some U.S. dioceses are weathering the financial upheaval wrought by the coronavirus pandemic.
