Pope urges religious leaders to denounce 'blasphemy' of violence in God's name

Dozens of Catholics, including men and women religious, were arrested near the U.S. Capitol Feb. 27 in the rotunda of a Senate building in Washington as they called on lawmakers to help young undocumented adults brought to the U.S. as minors obtain some sort of permanent legal status.
In many of the buildings representing the U.S. government and its founding ideals in Washington, D.C., there are paintings and statues with religious themes enshrining faith in the country’s origins. Most of the imagery is Protestant, but there are also prominent Catholics who are represented showing some of the diversity of religious heritage.
