Police and firefighters in Omaha and surrounding areas will gather next week for an annual Mass to pray for safety of those while in the line of duty.
The Blue Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in northwest Omaha.
The tradition allows officials, family and friends to pray for the safety of police and first responders and the individuals they serve. There will also be a traditional blessing of public safety equipment after the Mass.
The event is open to the public.
