One week after knocking off a Top 10 opponent, the Boston College Eagles picked on FCS-foe Maine.

The result was never in doubt, as the Eagles cruised to victory, 40-10. The win helped the team move to 3-1 — its best start since 2009.

Freshman running back Marcus Outlow stole the show, getting his first significant playing time of the season. The Norwich, Connecticut native finished with 107 yards on 14 carries while also catching one pass for 28 yards.

“It feels great,” Outlow said about getting his chance to play. “I’ve been waiting on my time and rooting for the guys that got in there before me, but I always told myself that when I get my chance I have to seize the moment and go capture it. I’m so blessed to get the opportunity.”

Quarterback Tyler Murphy also continued his hot start to the season.

Entering Week 4 as the leader in quarterback rushing, the senior only added to that total, rushing for another 99 yards and two scores on 13 carries. He also threw for 130 yards, a touchdown, and an interception on 11-of-18 passing.

Boston College will play Colorado State next Saturday before going into the bye week.

Notre Dame, BC’s fellow FBS Catholic school, didn’t play this weekend. It faces Syracuse at 8 p.m. Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ – a game that will be televised on ABC.

Because of its 3-0 record, Notre Dame is ranked No. 9 nationally by AP, USA Today, and the ESPN Power Rankings.
