    The first Marian shrine in Asia dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima was built in 1935 at Karjat, near Mumbai. The church will hold special celebrations on May 13 to mark the centenary of the apparitions of Mary which took place in 1917 in in the Portuguese town, with an emphasis on prayers for peace.
