Pope Francis, who travels with journalists aboard the papal plane, is expanding his reach when he meets with members of Italy’s 400-strong foreign press association at the Vatican on May 18.
Pope Francis said of his public tumble on Thursday at a Polish shrine, “I let myself fall, and this saved me. Because if I tried to resist it, I would have gotten hurt.” The pontiff was uninjured and complete all of the remaining events on his itinerary.
During an hour-long press conference aboard the papal plane, Francis also called Donald Trump’s proposal to build a massive wall along the US-Mexico border “not Christian,” said bishops who move around abusive priests should resign, reiterated the Church’s opposition to same-sex marriage.
