'It's time to take out the trash'

By now, you probably have read Pope Francis’ encyclical – at least in part. But have you seen the movie trailer for “The Encyclical?”

In the comedic trailer, an actor playing the pontiff repeats some of Francis’ most memorable quotes about the environment – including, “If we destroy creation, creation will destroy us” – alongside action movie-ready catchphrases like, “It’s time to take out the trash.” (Ahem, that’s “immense pile of filth.”)

The fake Francis also hits the boxing ring, swings a ferula, teams up with Jesus, and takes on vampire-like corporations.

But as the trailer intones, “In this epic battle against climate crisis, we can’t let him fight alone.”
