My elderly parents, who have been thrifty their whole lives, are now in a position to give me a generous financial gift. Am I obligated to disclose this gift, in all its detail, to my spouse whom I love but feel is somewhat too “spendy”?
We have two young kids and always feel strapped month to month; I wonder whether it might be okay to hold some of this money back from shared or joint use now, with the idea that it may benefit me, or us, or our kids down the line.
