I raised my daughter Catholic, but now that she has a family of her own, she isn’t as close to the faith as she once was.

Her husband is Christian, but not Catholic, and though their two young boys were baptized in their parish church, I feel they’re being raised in a “loose-y goosey” style. The family never goes to Mass, as far as I know, and the children are getting no religious education.

Last weekend, I was at their house for dinner, and when I looked closely at their Nativity, arranged beautifully on the mantelpiece, I noticed that the four-year-old’s Transformer toy was ensconced in the crib, like some kind of family joke. I was offended and expressed my disapproval as strongly but politely as I could, but my daughter laughed me off.

What can I do?
