My family and I bought opening-night tickets to a blockbuster movie. When we arrived at the theater, nearly every single seat was taken: it was clear we would have to split up.

My sons went to sit in the front row, and I approached a young man who had his jacket on an empty seat in the aisle. Might I sit there? I asked. He told me he was saving it for a friend, and I responded by saying that I would sit there for now and move when the friend showed up.

Well, the friend finally did show up – about 20 minutes after the movie started! I refused to move. I still feel kind of bad about it. Was I wrong to lie?
